Job Description and Duties

These positions are located in Sacramento at DMV Headquarters.

DMV’s Information Systems Division (ISD) is seeking an innovative individual to serve as Manager for one of two Applications Development Groups. The incumbent will direct application support and development activities for DMV’s business applications. The ITM I supports internal projects and inter-departmental projects that interface with its core business applications. The ITM I is responsible for workforce and succession planning, IT budgeting and procurement, and strategic planning.

Through subordinate staff, the ITM I is responsible for gathering business requirements to design systems, develop technical specifications, program, test and implement new systems or enhancements to existing systems. The ITM I serves as technical manager for various projects.

Desirable Qualifications: proficient managerial or supervisory skills. Experience in effectively planning, organizing, directing, delegating and supervising complex work of a multidisciplinary staff. Experience in project management and SDLC methodologies. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to organize workload to accommodate changing priorities. Ability to analyze information and make decisions in a competent and timely manner. Positive attitude and highly motivated.

Desirable Skills: Experience managing development teams supporting Assembly and COBOL applications.

Working Conditions

DMV operates 24/7. The incumbent may be required to carry a work cellphone and laptop. There may also be times when the incumbent is required to attend an out of town conference, or work evenings and weekends to maintain project schedules.

Department Information
