Job Description and Duties

The Human Resources Department is accepting applications for at least (1) permanent full-time appointment to the Pest Control Technician.  This vacancy exists in Facility Operations.

 

The position is under the direction of the Supervising Groundkeeper II and is responsible for pest control duties hospital wide.

 

Applicants must be able to demonstrate the following:

 

KNOWLEDGE  OF: Structural Pest Control Act and Structural Pest Control Board Regulations; laws and regulations governing use of pesticides; elimination of rodents; noxious pests, such as spiders, ants and cockroaches; pests attacking humans, such as bedbugs, fleas, lice, mites, ticks, and mosquitoes; fabric pests, such as silverfish, firebrats, carpet beetles and clothes moths; cereal and miscellaneous pests; and general pests.

 

ABILITY TO: Identify and take steps required to control vertebrate and invertebrate pests; prepare written reports and records; train other personnel in preventive pest control methods.

 

Additional Requirements include interpersonal skills and dependability.

 

LICENSE/CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Possession of a Field Representative, Branch 2, license issued by Department of Consumer Affairs.
  • Qualified Applicator Certificate, desired; Category A, minimum issued by the California Department of Pesticide Regulation.

Working Conditions

Patton is a forensic psychiatric hospital and was established in 1890 and opened in 1893. DSH-Patton provides treatment to forensically and civilly committed patients within a secure treatment area. The hospital does not accept voluntary admissions.
