SELECTION PROCESS
CAL FIRE will create a qualified applicant pool to fill vacancies for 2022.
Hires may be made in the following counties: Alameda, Alpine, Amador, Butte, Calaveras, Colusa, Contra Costa, Del Norte, El Dorado, Fresno, Glenn, Humboldt, Imperial, Inyo, Kern, Kings, Lake, Lassen, Los Angeles, Madera, Marin, Mariposa, Mendocino, Merced, Modoc, Mono, Monterey, Napa, Nevada, Orange, Placer, Plumas, Riverside, Sacramento, San Benito, San Bernardino, San Diego, The City and County of San Francisco, San Joaquin, San Luis Obispo, San Mateo, Santa Barbara, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou, Solano, Sonoma, Stanislaus, Sutter, Tehama, Trinity, Tulare, Tuolumne, Ventura, Yolo, Yuba.
Appointment may be extended up to 24 months.
It is anticipated that job offers for Fire Apparatus Engineer positions may be made beginning the week of January 3, 2022.
Candidates are encouraged to have a valid driver's license of the appropriate class and CPAT prior to job offers.
Job offers will only be made to candidates who have provided a copy of the appropriate driver’s license.
Hire dates will be as early as January 17, 2022. Job offers may be revoked if you do not possess the appropriate driver's license, have a valid CPAT, and/or complete the medical clearance process by January 10, 2022.
Please note: there is no longer a "three decline rule" relating to the number of times that an applicant can decline a job offer. Declining a job offer will not affect a candidates list status.
