Job Description and Duties

This position is located at the DMV Headquarters in Sacramento. 

DMV’s Information Systems Division (ISD) is seeking a motivated individual to serve as the Deliverable Management Group Manager, Information Technology Manager (ITM) I for the Digital Experience Platform (DXP) Project.

The incumbent is responsible for deliverable management for the new, innovative DXP Project. The project will create a new system for DMV customers and staff to merge existing legacy systems into one platform. The incumbent will provide oversight of critical information security, review crucial deliverables, and manage requirements for project staff. The incumbent will control allocated budgeted funds and staff resources to carry out tasks and responsibilities. In addition, the incumbent ensures the necessary process for all activities vital to the project progress are supported and provides associated documents and approvals inclusive of compliance with enterprise architecture and contractual requirements. The incumbent will need to ensure compliance with the complete range of System Development Life Cycle, Change Management, Enterprise Project Management, Workflow Framework, and similar processes and tools.

The incumbent is responsible for workforce and succession planning, IT budgeting and procurement, service performance management, and strategic planning. The incumbent provides leadership, guidance, mentoring, and training to subordinate staff and consultants. The incument will organize staff workloads and assignments to accommodate changing priorities and effectively manage multiple assignments concurrently.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Proven record of success in motivating diverse teams throughout multiple concurrent projects ensuring efficient and timely delivery of innovative products and services.
  • 3-5 years experience with large-scale project deliverable management.
  • 3-5 years experience with technical team management.
  • Demonstrated experience with SDLC, Agile, and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of Enterprise software platforms, including Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, Salesforce, Service Now, Workday, and others.
  • Experience in planning, organizing, directing, delegating, and supervising complex work for a multidisciplinary staff. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to various levels of management and staff.
  • Demonstrated experience in organizing workloads and managing multiple concurrent assignments to accommodate constantly changing priorities.
  • Experience working on large-scale Enterprise information technology projects.
  • Possess Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.

Working Conditions

DMV operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Incumbent may be required to carry a cellphone, work occasional evenings and/or weekends, or attend out of town classes or conferences. Telework may be considered.

The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is a recognized leader in public service and has existed for over 100 years.
