Job Description and Duties

Under general direction of the WHL Senior Environmental Scientist Supervisor, the position serves as the statewide coordinator and project lead specific for the Statewide Human-Wildlife Conflict Program. Statewide Coordination: Serve as the statewide lead and project coordinator for the Statewide Human-Wildlife Conflict Program. Develop standard procedures, protocols, and technical documents to address critical program needs. Provide conflict risk assessments, technical expertise, consultation, and recommendations for field incident response (e.g., relocation). Manage project budgets, contract, memorandum of understandings, data sharing agreements; coordinate biweekly statewide meetings. Represent CDFW by appearing before the Fish and Game Commission, governmental, public, and private entities.

In order to be eligible for this position, you must either be transfer eligible or take and pass the following exam:

This position is a 12 month Limited Term (LT) and may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent.



If you currently have permanent status in your position and have passed probation, you have mandatory reinstatement rights into your former position at the end of this LT appointment. If you have not had prior permanent or probationary civil service status, you will be separated from state service.

Working Conditions

Ability to use a computer keyboard in a sitting and/or standing position several hours a day. Will interact regularly with Sacramento-based staff, regional staff, agency partners, and the diverse public via email, telephone, and in-person. State travel and occasional national travel required. Field activities may include strenuous physical activity in variable weather conditions. Willingness to work occasional long, irregular hours (e.g., early morning, evening, weekend, holidays). This is a full-time limited term position for up to 2 years.

- Vaccinated against rabies virus with adequate antibody titer or willing to receive pre-exposure rabies vaccination.
